The F-O-A 2.5” Coil Over Race Shock with Remote Reservoir was the inspiration for our entire company. Our goal was to build a quality 2.5” Coil Over Race Shock that could be priced for the masses. Starting at just over $300 these 2.5” ID bodied race shocks cost about as much as the competitions 2.0” shocks and once you hold one of our shocks in your hands, you’ll know we hit the mark!
COM-10 lower bearings
Our standard coil over uses a COM-9 bearing “9/16” ID we have had great success with this bearing size over the years in both recreational and race vehicles, but the COM-10 bearing does have some advantages in extreme conditions. It has a larger contact area in the aluminum top cap or rod end which puts the load over a greater area which makes it stronger longer lasting setup. Both our COM-9 and COM-10 bearing will use a 1/2” bolt in a 1.5 or 1.25 width.
FOA IFB
“Internal Free Bleed”
All FOA race series shocks will come with an IFB Top cap and shaft. The IFB set up does an amazing job creating a bump zone at the last 4” of shock travel. This will be seen on the compression and rebound speeds. On a standard Shock or coil over, we build the “free bleed circuit” into the shock piston, those are the small holes that you see on the outside of the shims. It creates an oil path from one side of the piston to the other without opening the shim stack. This is your low speed oil control when the shaft movement doesn’t have enough speed to open up the valve stack.
If the piston didn’t have this option, you would have a ton of harness under the curve where the shims haven’t opened up yet.
By moving the free bleed circuit from the piston to the center of the shaft we are able to build progression into that circuit with the utilization of a metering rod.
This way you get all of the great low speed qualities of our standard piston but by limiting it on the final 4” of travel you get a great valving curve which helps bottom out and rebound control.
In most cases you will run a heavier valve stack as well which will have greater control in the zone before the last 4” of shock travel as well.
Also makes it easy to tune with multiple size and lengths metering rods “available separately”
FOA Rate Plate
All race series shocks will come with our valving rate plate
In simple terms a rate plate is a stop for the compression valving it allows it to open up to a certain spot then bottom out which stops the valving from flowing any more then that ,no matter what force is exerted onto the shock.
This is a great tuning tool and necessary for extreme bottom out control.
FOA High pressure Schrader valves
All FOA race series shocks will come with a high pressure Schrader valve that is rated too rated up to 2000psi
Standard Schrader valves can be ID by the 1/8 NPT thread size High pressure valves will be 7/16-20 with and O-ring seal.
Our smaller coil over shocks (6-8") can be set up with a single or dual rate coil springs. F-O-A Shocks (10-20”) will all require the Dual Rate Hardware a $25 upgrade option that gets you the spring divider and a crossover adjustment nut (dual rate stop).
The F-O-A 2.5” Coil Over Shocks w/ Remote Reservoir are available in lengths from 6” to 20” and are compatible with any 3.0” spring.
